Airlines and Vendor Partners Recognized by Their Peers for

Implementation of New and Innovative Programs

Boston, Mass. USA (24 September 2018) – The members of the airline industry’s second largest association, APEX (The Airline Passenger Experience Association), honored their peers tonight as they celebrated the top innovators from airlines and vendor partners around the globe. This year’s winners successfully implemented new programs and services this year. Winners were announced Monday evening at APEX’s annual Awards Ceremony during APEX EXPO. Brian Kelly, CEO and Founder of The Points Guy, emceed the event sponsored by Spafax and Thales.

“It is our distinct pleasure at APEX to recognize the newest and most innovative approaches to business from our member airlines that are further propelling the passenger experience to the next level.” Says Maura Chacko, chair of the APEX Awards Committee.

 Winners were determined by industry and media judging panels. 


The 2019 APEX Award Winners are:

  •  Air New Zealand: Best Original Audio: Air New Zealand Audio: Connecting with Passengers
  •  Air New Zealand: Best Original Video: The World’s Coolest Safety Video
  •  flydubai: Best Passenger Comfort Innovation: flydubai Sets New Benchmark for Passenger Comfort
  •  Singapore Airlines and Panasonic Avionics Corporation: Best Personalization Innovation: Singapore Airlines’ World’s First Personalised In-Flight Entertainment Experience
  •  Virgin Australia: Best Video Curation: Virgin Australia Serves a Veritable Cornucopia of Snackable IFE Content

New to the APEX award lineup is the APEX + Crystal Cabin Award for Best Customer Journey Experience. This award comprises all products that help to improve the customer experience journey (inspiration, planning, booking, purchase, pre-trip, departure, in-flight and post-trip) across airline travel categories.

 2019 APEX + Crystal Cabin Award Winner is:

  •  FLIO: Best Passenger Journey: FLIO – Digital Airport Experience  

The APEX Award Ceremony took place during APEX EXPO, an exclusive members-only event attended by more than 5,000 industry professionals, including representatives from more than 100 airlines who drive continuous improvement in the passenger experience, including advances in entertainment and connectivity, comfort and ambiance, catering and other services. APEX EXPO co-located with International Flight Services Association (IFSA) Conference & EXPO, and Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) Americas.
