New APEX Exhibitors, Broader Education Mean Expanded Opportunities for Airlines

(NEW YORK) – Airlines will need to bring more representatives to the 2013 Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) EXPO in order to take full advantage of the growing diversity of exhibitors and educational topics this year, according to the association. The EXPO will be 9-12 September in Anaheim, California, USA.

Expanded participation in the EXPO program from seat, interiors, fabric, carpet and other companies brings greater value to the industry and reflects APEX’s broadened mandate to represent all factions of the passenger experience – from multi-media and services to comfort and ambience. Further, this year’s EXPO also integrates exhibitors from the International Flight Services Association (IFSA), which is jointly hosting the EXPO with APEX.

“APEX is the world’s only industry community exclusively devoted to the passenger experience, and our EXPO has grown and evolved in recent years to become a one-stop opportunity for any airline professional interested in the latest developments in the air travel experience,” said Russell Lemieux, executive director. “The EXPO hall now includes the world’s top suppliers of catering services, cabin design, fabrics and much more.”

This year supplier companies ANKER Carpets, rohi stoffe GmbH, Schneller LLC and Lantal have joined long-time exhibitors like Airbus and Boeing. In addition, the 2013 educational general session program will include Recaro CEO Mark Hiller, who will present on “Functionality Meets Luxury: How to Assure Comfort and Safety.” Some 3,500 delegates are expected to attend the EXPO. Devin Liddell, principal brand strategist for TEAGUE, will present, “A Shared Revolution: How Hotels and Airlines Can Collaborate to Shape the Future of Travel.”

For the first time, an expanded educational program features an entire track focused on passenger comfort and ambience. The new track includes a special session on the “Impacts of New Markets on Cabin Design,” featuring Nicolas Pinel, corporate vice president for account management and field service for B/E Aerospace; Kent Craver, regional director of cabin experience and revenue analysis for Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and Susan Hrnkova, head of aircraft interiors, marketing manager for Airbus.

The “Comfort and Ambience” educational track also will feature, “A Future Vision for Connected Mobility,” presented by Patrick McEneany, associate director, creative consulting, BMW Group Designworks USA; and “Applying Sensory Design to the Aircraft Cabin,” presented by Frederique Houssard, creative director, Designescence.

For some three decades, the EXPO has been the most important event of the year for airlines looking for innovations in onboard entertainment and connectivity. With the addition of companies impacting all touch points for passengers, the EXPO is now a must-attend event for professionals from any airline division or department focused on passenger experience, Lemieux said. Registration is now open for the event.
