APEX Event in Hamburg to Focus on Onboard Passenger Experience

(NEW YORK) The Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) is hosting a full-day educational event on every aspect of the onboard passenger experience in Hamburg, Germany on Monday 26 March 2012. The event, which starts at 8:30 and runs straight through to an evening networking event/cocktail reception, is being held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, steps away from the Hamburg Messe.

This annual educational event, in its third year, is the must-attend educational event each March as vendors and airlines of the passenger experience industry learn important trends and technologies, and have the opportunity to network with friends and colleagues. APEX is an association of airline professionals who focus on every aspect of the passenger experience for the world's commercial airlines. This workshop is for those in InFlight Entertainment (IFE), interiors, seating, lighting, food and beverage and more.

The event is organized into seminars and panel discussions. Sessions include the following:

  • Cabin trends, presented by Ingo Wuggetzer of Airbus, and mood lighting and cabin ambiance by Marc Renz of Diehl Aerospace GmbH.

  • A panel discussion entitled, “Consumer Devices in the Air” that will discuss the increasing trend of passengers bringing their personal electronic devices onboard and expecting/hoping to integrate those devices with their flying experience. The panel will give an outlook of what is forecasted onboard for future fliers.

  • Some of the world’s leading airframers will discuss how to enable higher levels of customization whilst increasing production rate and empowering the global supply chain on the “Ask the Airframers” panel hosted by Jon Norris of the APEX Media Platform.

  • ”In-Seat Power” panel participants from American Airlines, KID-Systeme GmbH and Astronics will discuss the opportunities and limitations for providing inflight power.

  • Leaders from SiT, Zodiac Seats and B/E Aerospace will discuss the process on scheduling, customer expectations, lessons learned and the end product when it comes to seat & IFE integration.

  • Finally, discuss what the future of aviation holds. Sarah DaVanzo of Kaplan Thaler Group will host a panel that includes representatives from the European Space Agency and the “Future by Airbus 2050” team.

“We’re excited to be able to offer industry-specific educational programming ,” said Russ Lemieux, Executive Director of APEX. “With the onboard passenger experience constantly evolving, APEX is committed to staying on top of the latest trends affecting our industry.”

This APEX educational event is open to APEX member vendors for a reduced fee of $150; APEX airline members attend for free. Non-members may attend for a reduced fee of $300. There are further reductions if attendees become APEX members within 60 days of this event.
