AGENDA

Monday 16 November 2015

11:00 – 12:00 | Registration

12:00 – 1:30 | Networking Lunch & Exhibits

1:30 – 2:15 | VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF ASIAN AIR TRAVEL
With the rapid development in the airline industry in Asia, airlines look at passenger experience to strengthen brand image and enhance passenger satisfaction. This opening session will offer an overview of the airline industry exploring how the region’s airlines tap into the ever growing travel market, offer superior products and services targeted for specific customers and deliver exceptional customer experiences. What investments have been made that echo applause by the industry and passengers? How are offerings tailored for the country, region and world?  What makes the region unique? Insights will be shared on the future of the aviation industry and what the future paxex will be.
Presented by: Joe Leader – Chief Executive Officer, APEX

2:15 – 3:00 | AIRPORT DEVELOPMENTS & RISE OF THE AEROTROPOLIS
Over the next twenty years, the amount of airline passengers is forecasted to double based on a 4.1% average annual growth rate. There is a direct and interchangeable relationship between air connectivity and strong economies. Infrastructure must be compliant in order to facilitate travel. For these reasons, we are seeing expansion and improvements made to existing airports. Also on the rise is the aerotropolis, a city surrounding an airport with its own economy and infrastructure.
Presented by: Tan Lye Teck – Executive Vice President, Airport Management, Singapore Changi Airport Group

3:00 – 3:30 | Networking Break & Exhibits
Sponsored by:

3:30 – 4:15 | AIRCRAFT LESSOR'S UTOPIA
What helps facilitate creation of passenger experience dreams instead of logistical nightmares? Standardized cabin and passenger experience features, less buyer-furnished equipment choices, lower cost and shorter lead times all play a role. This dialogue will outline the reasons for uniformity and simplicity to reduce costs, minimize turnaround time and increase efficiencies.
Moderated by: Joe Leader – Chief Executive Officer, APEX
Presented by: Mark Calver – Managing Director, Avioserv Singapore Pte. Ltd.

4:15 – 5:00 | INTERIORS COMPONENTS SHAPING DESIGN STRATEGY
Take an informed look at what constitutes an interiors philosophy. How does extensive research and strategic planning shape the design approach while balancing airline demands and bottom lines with increasing passenger demands.
Presented by: Kent Craver – Director Cabin Experience & Revenue Analysis, The Boeing Company

5:00 – 6:30 | Networking Reception
Join your fellow APEX members for an enjoyable evening in Singapore. Network with your fellow regional and local members.

Tuesday 17 November 2015

8:00 – 9:00 | Registration

9:00 – 10:00 | AIRLINE PASSENGER EXPERIENCE – PERSPECTIVES FROM ASIA
One of the largest aviation markets in the world has become Asia. Per Boeing’s Market Outlook, a billion passengers travel to, from, or within the region each year and more than 100 million new passengers are projected to enter the market annually for the foreseeable future. Regional economic growth; liberalization and deregulation; new, efficient airplanes, and new business models have been cited as factors for such growth and demand. Given this, how are regional airlines meeting this demand? How are others capitalizing on this market? How are issues of security and censorship addressed and tackled? What other models i.e. LCCs are proving to be successful in the region?  Why?
Moderated by: Joe Leader – Chief Executive Officer, APEX
Panelists:
David Meyer – Category Manager, Qantas Airways Limited
Dodo Su – Products and Services Management Division, China Southern Airlines

10:00 – 10:45 IFEC IN THE ASIA MARKET – INFLIGHT TECHNOLOGY TRENDS IN A UNIQUE REGION
An overview of recent and possible future developments in IFEC in the Asia region, and a comparison to the rest of the world. Asia is a unique region for aviation, and inflight technologies. This session draws on a comprehensive dataset of IFE, Connectivity, and wireless IFE installations to present a market overview as well as recent trends in the region. The potential of new inflight technologies for the region is evaluated in terms of technical, geographic, and behavioral context.
Presented by: Robert Smith – Director, Market Intelligence, Global Eagle Entertainment

10:45 – 11:15 | Networking Break & Exhibits

11:15 – 11:45 | BRANDING STRATEGIES & CABIN DESIGN
Passenger expectations are continually rising. This session will address how the latest cabin designs satisfy these increasing needs and offer opportunities for future innovations. Understand how airlines, airframers, suppliers and design firms can collaborate to ensure value suited to address the unique needs of airlines.
Presented by: Mike Crump – Partner and Strategy & Innovation Director, Honour Branding

11:45 – 12:00 | APEX ACTIVITY UPDATE
What is the Technology Committee up to? Get brief updates on activities taking place that impact members, provide value and are set to advance the industry, association and its members.
Presented by: Jonathan Norris – Vice President, Sales, Lumexis Corporation

12:00 – 1:00 | VIEWING & MEDIA CONSUMPTION HABITS
This session will present findings on how media is consumed on the ground across multiple devices and outlets. How do the drivers surrounding TV, movie and radio in the social environment affect use, and what is the impact it has on viewing and consumption of second screen use? Is this mirrored in the air? How are the unique challenges in the region overcome? Regional content is booming and becoming more important for airlines in Asia, as well as other international carriers wanting to satisfy their Asian passengers. What makes Asian content unique?  What differentiates the local content by country and what appeals to each passenger demographic?
Presented by: Shane Mitchell – Chief Digital Officer, MediaCorp

1:00 – 2:15 | Networking Lunch & Exhibits

2:15 – 3:00 | DIGITAL NETWORK: ENGAGEMENT IN THE MOBILE ERA
How can marketers take advantage of the aviation industry and passengers, as they are an audience that is…stuck! Millions of eyes focused on screens for millions of hours. How are brands internal and external to the aerospace market utilizing mobile. What mobile trends surround travel when it comes to activities including search, booking and pre and inflight utilization such as e-boarding pass and social engagement 35,000 feet in the air.
Presented by: Simrat Sawhney – Travel & E-Commerce Strategist, Facebook

3:00 – 3:30 | CONTEXTUAL ENGAGEMENT AT 30,000 FEET: THE NEW PERSONALIZED ON-BOARD EXPERIENCE
Every airline in the world, no matter how good they already are, is always looking for ways to improve the onboard passenger experience. Inflight connectivity sits right at the centre of that drive. An excellent passenger experience is about much more than inflight Wi-Fi and mobile phone services - this is only the beginning for connectivity. There have been many words spoken about connectivity’s potential, looking to the future. We are talking about the present. We are talking about the connected aircraft. From connected tablets for the cabin crew, to global flight tracking, streaming black box data and electronic flight bags, and to live reporting of maintenance requirements. How does this help the passenger? Inflight connectivity can make flying better in many ways: better customer service from the cabin crew; a smoother flight; improved safety standards; reduction in delays. Everything an airline does is, ultimately, designed to help the passenger. The rapid development of connectivity-based solutions is no exception to that rule. Today airlines are flying all over the world using SITAONAIR’s inflight connectivity solutions for cabin crew, cockpit, passenger and maintenance: it is what we call the nose-to-tail connected aircraft.
Presented by: Katrina Korzenowski – Regional Commercial VP, APAC, SITAONAIR

3:30 – 4:00 | THE SKY IS THE LIMIT! FUTURE PROOFING INFLIGHT TECHNOLOGY
In the Asia Pacific region technology is evolving ten times faster on the ground than in the air, future proofing the connectivity solution is therefore a necessity in order to ensure a solid business case. An evolving and adaptable business model will generate potential larger and new revenue streams and more ancillary opportunities thanks to new more reliable next-generation communication networks. Attendees will learn how to construct a business model around connectivity technology that will not be obsolete in a few years, and how to create the best passenger connectivity experience which also provides added benefits across the airline from all aircraft being connected to the “Big Pipe”.
Presented by: Chuck Albright  Director, Airline Market Development, Aviation, Inmarsat
